Rosy Tomorrows?

This piece focuses on what we – the society of the world – are doing to the world’s most vulnerable children. From turning them away from safe havens to separating them from their parents to not pursuing human trafficking, we are adding to the already intense trauma of these young victims who represent our coming generations.
I spent a long time trying to work on pieces that show real images but I found viewers unable to take it and found they were doing as we are doing in real life, turning away from it. I then began focusing on the faces of dolls, taking thousands of photos. I found that the images drew people in and that viewers spent time looking from face to face – and therefore spent more time thinking about the reality of the situation, which was my goal.
The title, taken from a restaurant sign glimpsed from the road, refers to the ultimate question – are we doing what we can to insure our most vulnerable humans can have a chance for their own Rosy Tomorrows? If not us, who will help them see those days?
